Ponni Delta is a senior living facility, which is located on the banks of river Cauvery in Trichy. The lay of the land is predominantly flat with a gentle slope. The approach is dictated by the ‘cause and effect’ relationship of the varying component parts - the users, their requirements, both physical and spiritual, their activities and aspirations to develop a cohesive and vital living environment. Visual links with the green spaces have been the driving forces of the design. To make the most of the least, low-rise medium density housing are clustered around the pedestrian walkway. This walkway is oriented in the North-south direction to avoid the harsh sunrays. Thus, the space between the units forms as a community spine.
