SANDUR

HOSTEL BLOCK

The key objective of the hostel block is to encourage the interaction and discussions among the students. The rooms are organized around the landscaped courtyards to provide the humidified microclimate necessary in the hot dry climate of Sandur. The two courtyards are diagonally located to form a visual connection and a sense of belonging. Each room opens out to a smaller court area, which provide good light, and ventilation. The landscape weaves in and out of the built spaces – indoors and outdoors are integrated to create an ambience that blends aesthetic architecture with natural surroundings. Kota stone flooring blends well with the exposed stone cladded columns, which are flanged along the corridor. Wide movement corridors and stairs create hanging out spaces that enable deliberations in a natural setting.
